Iris Legendre

French artist based in London. She works in water-colour and pencil drawing.

“I examined heredity and contagion inside the family. It’s impossible to escape from genealogy or memories. My work is about scrutinizing these memories, in close-ups. I nailed hundreds of pins on old family portraits. The created shapes evoke masks, coffins, or ghosts. They suggest a punishment, a tumor that is slowly infiltrating the people and that will never get away. A threat seems to be hanging over them.”
